AIRFLOW® and Guided Biofilm Therapy
At Sutton Dentists we are proud to use AIRFLOW® and Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) as part of the dental hygiene treatments that we offer.
The AIRFLOW® handpiece, originating from Switzerland, introduces a controlled combination of warm water, air and a fine powder onto teeth surfaces and hard to reach areas, such as between teeth and beneath gum margins. Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) uses a harmless dye to visually mark any plaque on teeth, which is then efficiently eliminated using the AIRFLOW® handpiece. This process effectively dislodges and eliminates food particles and plaque, as well as helping remove discolouration and stains. Employing this high-pressure stream of water, air, and light powder, cleans teeth swiftly, thoroughly and comfortably, without direct contact with teeth or the mouth.
Guided Biofilm Therapy uses a systematic and predictable approach, founded on clinically proven technologies. It aligns with recommendations from the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) regarding Professional Mechanical Plaque Removal (PMPR) and Oral Hygiene Instructions (OHI) for Home Care.
