Chemical Peel

What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel facial is a skincare treatment that uses a chemical solution to exfoliate the skin.

Chemical peels can be used to treat fine lines, discoloured skin, hyperpigmentation, acne scars on the face and to improve skin texture. At our practice in Sutton we are highly experienced in peels and use the renowned peel from Clinicare.

Clinicare chemical peel range

Clinicare peels are available in three formulations, each targeting specific skin concerns:

Glow: Ideal for addressing hyperpigmentation, age spots, and dull skin.

Pure: Designed for sensitive skin and acne-prone conditions.

Refresh: Focuses on reducing fine lines, wrinkles, and improving skin firmness and hydration.

  • The chemical peel process removes the outer layers of dead skin cells, revealing fresher, healthier skin underneath.
  • The chemical peel treatment includes a Clinicare clinical cleanse, then the carefully selected peel is applied, followed by neutralisation and finished with a hyaluronic acid sheet mask, moisturiser and SPF.
  • The treatment can vary in strength, from mild to deep peels, depending on the type of chemical used and the skin concerns being addressed.

Chemical Peel FAQs

Am I suitable for a chemical peel?

Not everyone is a suitable candidate for a Clinicare chemical peel. Factors that can affect eligibility include certain skin types and conditions that may be more prone to adverse reactions, for example eczema, psoriasis, or active acne.

Additionally, if you’ve had certain skin treatments (like laser or microneedling) recently, you may need to wait. Some medications, like Accutane, can affect healing. It is best to consult with a qualified professional to determine if a chemical peel is right for you.

How long after the chemical peel will I see results?

Results from a chemical peel can typically be seen within a few days, but the full effects often become apparent after about one to two weeks as the skin continues to heal and rejuvenate. Deeper peels may take longer for results to fully emerge.

What is the after-care following a Clinicare chemical peel?

After a Clinicare chemical peel, you should avoid applying any products including make-up to your face for at least 24 hours. After that, you can start using gentle, hydrating products. It’s best to avoid active ingredients (like retinol or acids) for about a week. Always follow the specific aftercare instructions provided by your practitioner for optimal healing.

How long do the results of a chemical peel last?

Results from a Clinicare chemical peel typically last about 1 to 3 months, depending on the peel type and individual skin condition. Regular treatments can help prolong the effects.
